Current information about the shore excursions
Excursion "wine Express" and wine tasting (39 € p.P.)
The Winzerexpress, a little train that has been running through the streets, alleys and lanes of Rüdesheim since 1978, will pick you up at the pier. During the 30-minute round trip you will learn a lot of interesting things about the city, the country and the people. At the end of the excursion you will walk to a winery where you will be expected for a wine tasting (tasting of 3 wines).
City tour Speyer by foot (25 € p.P.)
Historically significant in the city of Speyer is the town hall, built in 1724, where the city council has been meeting since then. It is located on Maximilianstraße opposite the former market square, where the Christmas market is held today. The old market square is also home to the so-called "Alte Münze" (old coin). The present building was erected in 1784 as the "Neues Kaufhaus am Markt" (New Department Store on the Market) on the Platz der Münze. Since 1289 this building was the meeting place of the council and also the seat of the mints, those privileged people who were allowed to produce coins. The city's landmark is the Speyer Cathedral. After the destruction of Cluny Abbey in French Burgundy, it is the largest preserved Romanesque church in the world. It was elevated to the status of a basilica minor by Pope Pius XI in 1925. The award of the title of Basilica minor is intended "to strengthen the bond between the individual churches and the Roman bishop and to emphasise the importance of this church for the surrounding area".
Excursion Kurpfalz with Heidelberg (49 € p.P.)
From the pier in Speyer you can take the bus through the Electoral Palatinate. The Electoral Palatinate is situated on the Upper and Middle Rhine, between the Moselle and Kraichgau, with its core area on the Lower Neckar and the capitals Heidelberg and Mannheim. The city of Heidelberg is the destination of your journey. Once there, you will already be expected to go on a tour of the old town. In the old town of Heidelberg you will find the Peterskirche, the oldest church of the city. The Heiliggeistkirche is the most famous church in the city. It is located in the city centre, not far from the Heidelberg Castle. Together with the castle, the facade of the church dominates the silhouette of the town on the Neckar. The Heidelberg Castle is one of the most famous ruins in Germany and the town's landmark. The castle ruins rise 80 metres above the valley floor on the northern slope of the Königstuhl and from there dominate the picture of the old town.
City tour Straßbourg by bus / foot (45 € p.P.)
Strasbourg is the capital of the "Alsace" region, located in the East of France. The river Ill, a tributary of the Rhine, surrounds Strasbourg's well intact historical City center "Grande Île", which has been declared to World cultural heritage side in 1988. Very popular is the so called "Tanner district" in the city district "La Petite France" on the shoreline of the Ill and some of its channels with its picturesque half-timbered houses, small streets and the typical roof dormers. Landmark of the city is the roman and gothic Strasbourg Minster built from 1176 to 1439 build. Dominated by its west facade, you will see along the Minster Square countless, some four- or five story high half-timbered houses in the Alemannic Southern style. The astronomical clock and the "pillar of the Angels", the pulpit, the baptismal font, which are considered excellent examples of Occidental art swallow's nest organ are among his most famous pieces you will find here. (Explanations to the Strasbourg Cathedral made by the tour guide only while still outside - the inside visit will be done on their own.)
Alsace Tour with tarte flambée (49 € p.P.)
From the pier in Strasbourg, you can take a bus, to the Alsatian wine region with the Vosges mountains in
background, to Colmar. During a guided tour through the historical centre of Colmar you will discover the
Charm of the old town and its magnificent buildings. The old town of Colmar is considered particularly because of its location along the leek river, but also because of its beautiful and well-preserved half-timbered houses as one of the most Old towns all over France. At the end of your excursion you can enjoy the traditional "Alsatian tarte flambée" and the Alsatian wine.
Excursion Basel (49 € p.P.)
The excursion takes you from the pier in Breisach directly to Basel in Switzerland, which is about 65km away. The border city of Basel is located at the southern end of the Upper Rhine Plain and at the western beginning of the High Rhine Plain at the border triangle of Switzerland, Germany and France and therefore has suburbs in all three countries. During the city tour you will cross the Rhine several times and take a look at the well-preserved old town. You will pass city gates, the university and various museums. The tour ends with a short walk from the Kunstmuseum Basel via the Münsterplatz to the Pfalz, the viewing terrace high above the Rhine.
Excursion Black Forest (49 € p.P.)
The Black Forest is Germany's highest and largest continuous low mountain range and is located in the southwest of Baden-Württemberg. Mostly densely forested, the Black Forest stretches from the Hochrhein in the south to the Kraichgau in the north. The Black Forest is famous for its typical farmhouses with their sweeping hipped roofs, Black Forest gateau, Black Forest ham, Black Forest gnome, Kirschwasser and cuckoo clock.
City tour Mainz (25 € p.P.)
During your tour, you can discover the picturesque old town of Mainz, it will remind you clearly of medieval and early modern cityscape, with its narrow lanes, half-timbered houses, explore the Baroque noble houses, as well as the Catholic parish church St. Stephan with its unique blue glass windows by Marc Chagall. Another attraction is the huge Cathedral of St. Martin, which belongs to the Imperial cathedrals, as well as the many important places, monuments and interesting museums such as the Gutenberg Museum.

Your DCS Cabin
The comfortable and modern outside cabins were partially renovated in 2018 and are equipped with a French balcony on the upper deck. The cabins on the main deck have a large panoramic window which can be opened in the upper third. All two-bed cabins are approx. 12-14 m² in size and have 2 single beds, which can also be made into double beds on request. The deluxe cabins (18 m²) are equipped with a double bed and also have a larger bathroom. All cabins are equipped with a bathroom shower/WC, hairdryer and also have TV, safe, minibar, telephone and individually adjustable air conditioning.
Culinary delight
Enjoy daily culinary highlights during your river cruise including full board with a rich breakfast buffet and a multi-course lunch and dinner, which is served at the table. The board languages are German and English and the currency is Euro. Credit cards (Visa, Mastercard) are accepted. Smoking is only allowed on the outside decks.
Wellness, recreation und fitness

During the city tour you will cross the Rhine several times and take a look at the well-preserved old town. You will pass city gates, the university and various museums. The tour ends with a short walk from the Kunstmuseum Basel via the Münsterplatz to the Pfalz, the viewing terrace high above the Rhine.

The Black Forest is Germany's highest and largest continuous low mountain range and is located in the southwest of Baden-Württemberg. Mostly densely forested, the Black Forest stretches from the Hochrhein in the south to the Kraichgau in the north. The Black Forest is famous for its typical farmhouses with their sweeping hipped roofs, Black Forest gateau, Black Forest ham, Black Forest gnome, Kirschwasser and cuckoo clock.
City tour Mainz (25 € p.P.)
During your tour, you can discover the picturesque old town of Mainz, it will remind you clearly of medieval and early modern cityscape, with its narrow lanes, half-timbered houses, explore the Baroque noble houses, as well as the Catholic parish church St. Stephan with its unique blue glass windows by Marc Chagall. Another attraction is the huge Cathedral of St. Martin, which belongs to the Imperial cathedrals, as well as the many important places, monuments and interesting museums such as the Gutenberg Museum.

Your DCS Cabin
The comfortable and modern outside cabins were partially renovated in 2018 and are equipped with a French balcony on the upper deck. The cabins on the main deck have a large panoramic window which can be opened in the upper third. All two-bed cabins are approx. 12-14 m² in size and have 2 single beds, which can also be made into double beds on request. The deluxe cabins (18 m²) are equipped with a double bed and also have a larger bathroom. All cabins are equipped with a bathroom shower/WC, hairdryer and also have TV, safe, minibar, telephone and individually adjustable air conditioning.
Culinary delight
Enjoy daily culinary highlights during your river cruise including full board with a rich breakfast buffet and a multi-course lunch and dinner, which is served at the table. In the afternoon you will be served tea, coffee with pastries and cake alternating with a midnight snack. Life on board and entertainment
The ship offers you many possibilities to spend your leisure time on board, for example with themed evenings and/or live music. At your disposal are books to browse through as well as board games and a large chess set on the sun deck. Your cruise director on board is always available for you. The board languages are German and English and the currency is Euro. Credit cards (Visa, Mastercard) are accepted. Smoking is only allowed on the outside decks.
Wellness, relaxation and fitness
The wellness area invites you to relax and is one more highlight on board the DCS Amethyst Classic. It offers an indoor pool and a sauna for calming hours on board. Treat yourself to a short break.
